DeafPassions.com is a hip and happening site mainly for US members, and one of only two top sites in this category that is completely free for all users.  As well as having your own login and password, you have the option of logging in through Facebook as part of the "Passions Network."  Being 100% accessible to all members, there are a good range of features.  The Passions Network is a large group of websites covering many diverse social groups and interests.  These include, among others:

When you register you have the option for signing up for any of these sites as well.  As part of your Deaf Passions registration you are asked to choose from a wide range of types of sign language and hearing status options (see above).  This is one of the most comprehensive set of profile options of this kind seen in this category and should be a helpful tool should you with to use it.  The site also asks you to choose from a very wide range of options on what you are looking for in the site.  These include:

• On the DL (Down Low - google what that means if you don't know!)

These options are "groups" and each member is limited to eight per site.  The site advises to choose carefully as they will determine what kinds of people will find you and so you are encouraged to be open and honest.  This seems like a great idea.  When it comes to adding photography there is a detailed list of "dos and don'ts". 

Members of DeafPassions.com are required to include a specific photo for use in on-line chat rooms.  This again has its own set of rules and there is a whole section devoted to rules on nudity.  Given this page is so long, it might not get read properly by every member!  There is also a free on-line photo editor tool.  Advice is given on how to use this.  Again, it is all rather wordy and may put some people off uploading a photo at all.  But on the plus side, as the site is free for all to use, it is necessary to weed out inappropriate use.

In addition to the usual search criteria there are browse options for "Who's on-line", "Who's Popular", "Browse by Group" (that's the list above), "Browse by Location" and "Newest Members".  There is no computer matching feature but the detailed profile options, powerful search engine and choice of groups more than makes up for this.  There is little point having a computer matching service if you cannot choose options important to your search.  As well as the chat room, there is a page of "popular" products such as books based on themes, video games and popular members' profiles.  This might be where they make some revenue.  Other features include members' videos, blogs, newsletter, podcasts and games.  They all add up to provide a great free on-line dating package.
