Deaf Singles Connection Reviews

DeafSinglesConnection.com is part of a large group of popular dating websites with a similar format and design called Sparks Network, an American company.  On first impressions we noticed a minor technical glitch.  The left-hand navigation bar was positioned too far to the left in the browser so that part of it was obscured.  This may vary between browsers and operating systems (we used Mozilla Firefox in Linux).  There is some advertising, particularly a large bar at the top.  The design is colorful and fresh with lots to read and interact with on the first page to entice you in.

The site is packed with fun features such as a color code personality test (which is free) and the Fun Facts page on your profile.  Every member must complete some of the Fun Facts before using the site further, so this means profiles will be quite well filled-out.  There is also quite an extensive section for writing "essays" so you can fill in lots of text to help you in your dating search.  On the search section a window pops up to give you hints on how to use the search feature including possible entries such as "likes to snuggle".  Cute. 

There is also a "question of the week" which allows members to answer to start a debate.  Members may wish to use the message board as a way of getting in touch and getting to know people.  Subjects here include relationships and dating, Entertainment, Health & Fitness, News & Current Affairs, Hobbies and Leisure, Education and Resources and He Said/She Said. 

The most popular and recently used section was Relationships and Dating, followed by Entertainment and News & Current Affairs.  This might be a helpful tool and not many sites have decent forums.  The tone here is clean and it doesn't seem to get taken over for sex chat as happens in some other sites in this category.  You can even set a topic watch list which alerts you of new messages on the forum topic of your choice.

The navigation bar shows your profile activity including Emails, "smiles", cards, "sparks" and IM or instant messages.  It also shows who viewed your profile, added you to their favorites and "both said yes".  Then there is a section that shows all the features that you have sent to others.  Also on the bar is a section for updating your profile and a list of your favorite profiles. 

Deaf Singles Connection also has a two-way match facility determined by settings you input yourself.  These criteria are age, location, height, body type, education, relationship status, religion, ethnicity, smoking and drinking.  You can change these settings at any time.  Please note that there are no criteria for deafness or sign language.

The search features are also packed with options.  As well as the basic and advanced searches there is a "secret admirer" and "who's on-line" feature.  Under the search tab you will see your recent computer generated matches, a photo gallery, photo shuffle, stand-out profiles and a user-name search.  These are all slightly different ways to effectively browse the database and generate up-to-date activity and interest for the members.  The photos are of reasonable quality and the profiles neat and tidy.  Starting at $14.99 this site is good value for money and should provide plenty of dating opportunity.
